Subject: Medication Management Concerns and Recommendations
Dear [Manager’s Name],
I hope you’re well. I would like to raise a few concerns I’ve noticed regarding medication management within the home. These observations are intended to support safe practice and ensure residents receive timely and effective care.
- Some medications are not being dated when opened, which makes it difficult to monitor expiry and usage appropriately.
- When medications in the trolley are used up, they are not always replaced immediately from the spare stock in the medication room. Additionally, when stock is low or finished, the restocking procedure does not seem to be followed promptly by the seniors.
For instance, yesterday, Vince’s paracetamol ran out during tea time, and there was none available in the trolley or medication room. I checked Homelies, but there was still no stock available. As a result, we had to go out at night to purchase some from Tesco, leaving the resident in discomfort and pain for an extended period.
I believe ensuring medication is dated on opening and restocked immediately when low would help prevent such incidents and maintain best practice in medication administration.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to discuss this further if needed.
Kind regards,
